Tristan Hurd is a trumpet player, guitarist, producer, educator, composer, and arranger based in Los Angeles, California for over a decade. A native of Washington, he began playing trumpet at ten years old, inspired by his father, a band director and trumpeter. Motivated by his performance and competition experiences, Tristan decided to pursue music during his collegiate studies. He received his BA in Music Education from Central Washington University in 2012, and his MM in Trumpet Performance from UCLA in 2015, where he was also a teaching assistant. Tristan performs around the United States and internationally, most often in pop, jazz, and classical styles. He has worked with artists including Meghan Trainor, The Neighbourhood, RAYE, Pentatonix, Saint Motel, Goldfinger, Mike Sabbath, Theophilus London, Emmit Fenn, Save Ferris, Maejor, Less Than Jake, Sam Tsui, Cody Dear, Mike Bauer, Boylife, Nick Dorian, Temme Scott, and many more. He also does a great deal of recording, both in major studios and as a remote recording artist and engineer. As a producer, Tristan specializes in contemporary and popular music and his work is frequently placed in film and television. With over two decades of experience as a music educator, Tristan runs multiple programs for Sounds Like Los Angeles, a non-profit music program in West LA. Tristan is currently a teaching artist at Pluralistic School One and Braddock Drive Elementary in Los Angeles, and maintains a private studio of trumpet and guitar students.
